Temporary Speed Limit at Denbigh Stadium

March 10, 2005 9:01 PM

A temporary 40 mph speed limit is to be imposed on a number of roads around the Denbigh Stadium site. The restriction will be in place while work is carried out on the construction of new access junctions, road widening and realignment.

The speed limit, which has been requested by contractors, The Buckingham Group, will be in place for up to 18 months starting from Monday April 4. The roads affected are:

• V6 Grafton Street from its junction with the A5 at Redmoor roundabout to Granby roundabout

• The last few metres of Peveril Drive near its junction with Grafton Street

• Bletcham Way from Granby roundabout to Denbigh roundabout

• V7 Saxon Street from H9 Groveway to Denbigh roundabout.

At a later point in the work, there will also be a speed restriction on V7 Saxon Street (southbound only) from Roman roundabout (Wayside Audi) to Princes Way roundabout, linking the two existing 30 mph restrictions, while the existing footway is being upgraded.

Graham Mabbutt, Liberal Democrat Cabinet Member with responsibility for transport and highways said: "It is important that drivers should be aware of the need to drive more carefully while the construction work is taking place. A temporary lower speed limit will help draw attention to that. These speed restrictions will be lifted as soon as the progress of work on the stadium makes it safe to do so."
