J14 Park and Ride Car Park To Close

Due to the construction of a new Park and Ride and Coachway building, the Park and Ride car park at Brook Furlong, near the M1 Junction 14, will be closed to the public after 10 pm on 1st April 2007.
From 2nd April 2007, bus service 200 will no longer serve the Park and Ride car park and will terminate at the Coachway building. The existing Coachway building will stay open and operate as normal during construction of the new facilities.
The new park and ride car park will re-open to the public in March/April 2008.
The temporary closure of the Park and Ride car park means there will be a much reduced amount of parking available. Only the top level parking area will be open to the public.
If you are planning to use the Coachway after 1st April, you are strongly advised to:
• be dropped off by car; or
• use a taxi or private hire vehicle; or
• use bus services.
Councillor Chris Williams, Liberal Democrat cabinet member for transport, commented: "We know this will cause inconvenience to people. However, this will bring major improvements for the eastern flank of the city as well as considerable upgrading to public transport. We have waited a long time for a replacement to the dreadful old Coachway building."
