MK Council Website Judged One of the Very Best

March 24, 2007 12:00 AM

Clear community focus is one reason why Milton Keynes Council's website is one of the most visited local authority sites in the UK, a recent survey revealed.

Milton Keynes is the 8th most visited out of a total of 544 local authority websites, thanks to the wealth of information and advice available on-line at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk.

The ninth annual "Better Connected" survey carried out by SOCITM (an association for information technology managers in the public sector) recognised that www.milton-keynes.gov.uk provides "excellent content" that has a "very strong community focus".

The survey also recognised the Council was outstanding in many areas online including:

• Milton Keynes is ranked as one of the "top English unitary" websites

• Milton Keynes is an example of best practice in the category "Can people transact business with the council?"

• Milton Keynes is a fine example of best practice for "Registration for online services".

Councillor Cec Tallack, Liberal Democrat cabinet member responsible for e-government, welcomed the news and said: "Milton Keynes has always tried to make sure we reach out to the community in every way possible and this naturally includes online.

"The great thing about the internet is the ability for us as a Council to help residents by providing information at their fingertips in the comfort of their own homes."
