Medbourne Leisure Centre hosted open evenings to the public on 14th and 15th March.
Situated within the green space alongside the ancient Shenley Wood, the centre is equipped with three senior football pitches, a community hall, kitchenette, a small multi-use sports hall, changing facilities, etc.
This state-of-the art facility has environmentally-friendly features such as solar heating, sensor lighting, utilisation of natural light to reduce electricity usage, and the latest in soft design aspects to reduce the impact on the natural environment.
Liberal Democrat councillor Euan Henderson, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "This is an excellent facility for the community and residents were invited to come along to see what it can offer."
Already up and running are two pre-school groups, a martial arts club, and a church group, along with many individual bookings for celebrations and gatherings.
A Steering Group including Hertsmere Leisure Trust, Milton Keynes Council, Shenley Church End Parish, and Community Development has already been set up to ensure that a balanced programme that suits the needs of the community is in place.
