This week the Liberal Democrat Cabinet member for Highways will propose extra cash to sort out pothole problems caused by the bad weather in February.
The Lib Dem run Council has already made road and pavements repairs a top priority for 2009/10. They have included £300,000 in the budget specifically for road and pavement repairs.
Chris Williams, Cabinet member for Highways said: "Unfortunately, due to the snow and ice in February, large numbers of potholes have 'appeared' throughout Milton Keynes. The Lib Dem Cabinet realised that additional money would be needed to fund this extra work which is why I am proposing at additional £250,000 specifically for pothole repairs.
"Improving roads and pavements is a top priority. I am delighted that, during the budget consultation earlier in the year, residents agreed with the Lib Dems as they expressed a clear message that they also wanted road and pavement repairs to be a top priority. By rapidly responding to the bad weather we can continue the work already being undertaken to fix not only the potholes but other road and pavements problems." continued Cllr. Williams.
