Lib Dems Elect new leader

May 12, 2009 3:37 PM

At the Annual General Meeting of Milton Keynes Council's Liberal Democrat Group, the following were elected:

• Leader: Sam Crooks

• Deputy Leader: Chris Williams

• Chair of Group: Sam Potts

• Vice-Chair of Group: Irene Henderson

• Press Officer: Vanessa McPake.

Isobel McCall said: "There have been many challenges over the seven years I have been leader and there have been achievements too. One of the biggest challenges has been leading a council in no overall control. I have welcomed the opportunity to serve the people of Milton Keynes, a fantastic city which has been my home for the last 25 years."

Sam Crooks said: "I want to build on the excellent work of the LibDem Council. The LibDem Group will continue to prioritise raising education standards, providing positive activities for young people, regeneration, improving public transport, fixing the roads and pavements, and dealing with the effects of the recession which is affecting so many residents and businesses."
