Jib hunters are being offered a chance to get back into work by taking advantage of a host of recession-beating services run by libraries across Milton Keynes.
The campaign was launched by Milton Keynes Council to promote a number of free library services that can also give a boost to residents' career prospects.
Earlier this year the central library played host to Jobsearch courses and now further Jobs Roadshow events are planned for Thursday 17 September at Central Milton Keynes Library and on Thursday 26 November at Bletchley Library.
The Council has made guiding the city and its residents out of the recession in good shape a key priority and this campaign to focus on libraries' business support and job-hunting services is just one measure being taken as part of a £2 million aid package.
Job hunters can also benefit from a number of other library services including:
• Free internet (up to 30 minutes)
• Access to newspapers and magazines containing job opportunities
• Reference books for business start-ups and business advice
• Job hunting and career advice workshops
• Sessions with Citizens Advice Bureau advisers by appointment at Bletchley library
• Connexions/Next Step visiting several libraries to offer careers advice.
Liberal Democrat councillor Vanessa McPake, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: "Libraries continue to be a wonderful free resource, especially during a recession when everyone is watching the pennies. They offer many free services. We want to make people more aware of the range of help local libraries offer for businesses and to those looking to improve their career skills or find work."
