Liberal Democrats believe in decisions being made at the lowest level practical - as close to the people they affect as possible, and so we have worked to ensure that the whole of Milton Keynes authority is covered by Parish Councils.
Parish or Town Councils are the most local form of government, representing a few estates or villages or a small town. They can take responsibility for a range of services such as landscaping, play schemes, and litter bins, and they are also officially consulted on many other things such as new plans for the area, and proposals for Council services.
Most Parish Councils are not politically controlled, and we respect their independence. We are happy to encourage their work improving Milton Keynes and its surroundings.
