Only the Liberal Democrats say: Axe the Council Tax

The Council Tax is a crazy tax that hits pensioners and others on modest incomes the hardest. It takes no account of what people can afford, instead people are charged based on what their house was worth ten years ago!

The Liberal Democrats are calling for Council Tax to be replaced by a fairer system of income tax based on people's ability to pay. Council Tax was introduced by the Conservatives desperate to scrap their ridiculous poll tax and the changes in grants made by the Labour Government have made an unfair tax even worse.

Even though the Council Tax in Milton Keynes is lower than any of the neighbouring councils of other parties, the Liberal Democrats are still campaigning for it to be replaced by a fair tax.
