MK Expansion Starts Here!12.24.53pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 27th Oct 2004 The draft development framework for the Eastern Expansion Area of Milton Keynes is out for comment - so please let us know what you think. Planning for the new expanded Milton Keynes has now started, with the launch of the draft Development Framework for the Eastern Expansion Area. This describes what Milton Keynes Council proposes (within Government restrictions) should be provided and what sort of feel the area should have, for the next development area, between Pineham, Broughton, Kingston and the M1. It's a large area, and the draft proposes 4,000 houses and a large industrial estate, as well as a lorry park and upgrading the Coachway. There'll be shops, primary and secondary schools, and community sports and library facilities. The area is designed as, effectively, a small township, with a wide main street running through it with buses along it. There are 6 links proposed with existing roads, and discussions are in progress about contributions to grid road improvements. The draft is out for consultation until November 7th, and you can download a copy from the Council's website at http://www.mkweb.co.uk/local_plan_review/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=25832. If you don't quite make the deadline, then please send your comments in anyway, as discussion will continue for a short while longer. Your Liberal Democrat Focus Teams would very much like to hear what you think - so please copy your comments to them, as well as to the Council's officers. (Focus teams are listed under Local Liberal Democrats)
