Lorry Park Closed in Newport Pagnell

7.42.06pm GMT Sat 27th Nov 2004

After pressure from local Liberal Democrat councillors for Newport Pagnell and Sherington Wards, the lorry park on North Crawley Road has been closed. There had been concerns about dangers posed by huge lorries having to queue up with cars waiting to get into the tip, as well as other health and safety problems.

Councillor Pat Seymour said: "I'm delighted that the Lorry Park is at long last closed! For many years I have been asking the Council to do something about the hazard caused by all the lorries and the cars queuing on the road for the tip. This has been a real danger for people trying to drive to North Crawley."

Lorry drivers are being advised to use the overnight lorry parking provision at the M1 service stations at Newport Pagnell and Toddington.
