The winner of this year's Milton Keynes Short Story Writing Competition was announced on World Book Day (3 March). Local author Carole Matthews presented the prizes to all the winners at the Central Library. The winning stories will be published in a leaflet, which will be available in Milton Keynes libraries later in the Spring.

Liberal Democrat Cabinet member for Life-long Learning, Euan Henderson, said: "This competition is a fine example of our library service working in partnership with adult continuing education to encourage children and adults to put pen to paper. The response from schools and adult writers has been tremendous."
