Mobile Library More Efficient

11.52.57pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 6th Apr 2005

Liberal Democrat Councillor Sandra Clark, Milton Keynes Council's cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, has introduced changes to the mobile library service to make it more efficient. It will now spend more time serving customers by making longer stops at fewer places. The changes were proposed after consultation with customers over a six-week period last Autumn.

Sandra Clark said: "This means we can achieve fortnightly stops of at least half an hour. Many of the present stops are serving, on average, only one or two customers. The approximately 50 people who would otherwise be disadvantaged by the changes will be offered an alternative service through the housebound reader service or a book drop to a sheltered housing scheme. The new service will be reviewed after six months."
