Official Opening of Extension to Olney Middle School

12.00.00am GMT Sat 4th Feb 2006

The official opening of the extension at Olney Middle School was held yesterday (3rd February).

The new three-classroom block, which cost £517,000, will provide for 90 pupils. It is fitted with state-of-the art technology, including interactive whiteboards and laptop computers.

Milton Keynes Council's cabinet member for children, Sandra Clarke, who attended the opening, said: "Milton Keynes Council is delighted to have been able to commission this project and see it through to such a successful conclusion. The Liberal Democrat Council is very aware of the importance of improving and developing our excellent schools in the established areas of the Borough, as well as providing new schools for the new areas."

Headteacher Alison Waspe said: "The project has gone really well. I am delighted with the way in which the features of the original building have been echoed in the extension. The architect has given coherence to the whole site, joining the three separate buildings and providing safe accessibility for all. The ROK team on site were excellent and ensured that the needs of a busy working school were always taken into account."
