12.00.00am GMT Fri 17th Mar 2006

Plans for a new purpose-built nursery at Howe Park School have been given the green light by Milton Keynes Council. The £565,000 new nursery block will serve families living in Emerson Valley and surrounding areas.

It is due to be completed in time for the beginning of the September term. It will cater for about 40 children, who will have the option of attending either in the mornings or afternoons. There will be indoor and outdoor play areas, facilities for staff and parents, a changing/laundry room and a medical room.

Councillor Sandra Clark, Liberal Democrat cabinet member responsible for children and young people, Charlotte Cashman, Chair of Governors at Howe Park and headteacher Alan Killman performed a turf-cutting ceremony on 22nd March to signal the start of construction.
