According to the results of national tests* that measure the cleanliness of streets and the level of litter, it has been confirmed that Milton Keynes' streets were cleaner in 2005/6 than 2004/5 - and that there was less graffiti.
The tests involved taking hundreds of random samples from all areas of the Borough throughout the year. They are completely objective tests and cover all areas of the Borough including estates, rural areas, parkland and shopping centres.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Douglas McCall, cabinet member for the environment, said: "This demonstrates the Council's commitment to make our neighbourhoods cleaner and more pleasant places to live. It is the result of investment by the Liberal Democrat administration in initiatives such as 'deep cleans' and 'graffiti busters'."
