It's good news for Milton Keynes' 29,000 green bin users - the charge for a green garden waste bin for 2007 has been pegged at only £15. Liberal Democrat Councillor Douglas McCall, cabinet member responsible for the environment, said: "The green waste scheme is cheap, easy to use, and it makes a major contribution towards our recycling and composting rate, which is currently at 36%."

The £15 joining fee covers the 2007 collection period, from March to November 2007, and is the same for all properties, regardless of your type of property and when you join the scheme.

To join the scheme, either phone the Environmental Services Helpline on (01908) 252570, or e-mail envservices@milton-keynes.gov.uk
